Be Proud of Being a Christian

Be Proud of Being a Christian
(Romans 1:16-17)

[16] (NIV) I am not ashamed of the gospel (good news), because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:  first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.  [17] (NLT) This Good News (gospel) tells us how God makes us right in his sight.  This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.  As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

It is ok to be excited about the gospel.
     ·It is good news
     ·It is worth sharing

It is ok to experience the effect of the gospel.
·It has power --from the Greek word dumamis (dynamite)
     ·It is from God
     ·It can save
     ·It is for me

It is ok to excel in the gospel.
(righteousness) = (right standing)
·It is God's gift to you
Isaiah 64:6 (NIV):  All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
·It was paid for by Jesus
2 Cor. 5:21 (NIV):  God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
     ·It is accepted by faith
Philip. 3:8-9 (NIV):  What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. for whose sake I have lost all things,  I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ [9] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
     ·It results in right living
1 John 3:6-7 (NIV):  No one who lives (abides) in him keeps on sinning.  No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.  [7] Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray.  He who does what is right is righteous, just as (Christ) is righteous.
