The Wonders of Heaven

The Wonders of Heaven

Wonder # 1 – The Wonder of its Existence

2 Peter 3:13 (NIV):  But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

1 Peter 1:4 (NIV):  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you,

Rev. 21:11 (NIV):  It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.

Rev. 21:19-21 (NLT):  The wall of the city was built on foundation stones inlaid with twelve gems: the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, [20] the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.
[21] The twelve gates were made of pearls—each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass.

Wonder # 2 – The Wonder of its Character

    • It is precious

1 Cor. 2:9 (NIV):  "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him."

    • It is pure

Rev. 21:27 (NIV): Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
    • It is pain free
1 Cor. 15:42 (NLT):  It is the same way for the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies, which die and decay, will be different when they are resurrected, for they will never die.

Wonder # 3 – The Wonder of the Throne (thronos, seat of power)

Hebrews 1:8 (NLT):  "Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. Your royal power is expressed in righteousness.

Rev. 21:3-5 (NIV):  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. [4] He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
[5] He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Rev. 22:3 (NIV):  No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.
