I owe a public debt so I pay my taxes.  Romans 13:1-5 (NIV)
I owe a private debt so I pay my bills.

Romans 13:8 (NIV)  Let no debt remain outstanding . . .
Romans 13:8 (KJV)  Owe no man any thing . . .
Romans 13:8 (NASB)  Owe nothing to anyone . . .
Romans 13:8 (NLT)  Pay all your debts . . .
Romans 13:8 (Msg)  Don't run up debts . . .


Psalm 37:21-22 (NIV):  The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; [22] those the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off.
 


I owe a primary debt so I love my neighbor.

    • How did I incur this debt? How did I become indebted?
      • Jesus paid my sin debt when I was flat broke.
 
    • To whom do I repay this debt?
      • Jesus designates your neighbors as your creditors.
        • In Greek the word is heteros = love those who are different than you.
 
    • How do I repay this debt?
      • By writing checks of love and forgiveness to others.
 
    • What are the benefits of repaying this debt?
      • My love for others satisfies all of God’s commandments.
